Program Description

In order to equip participants with the English skills to help them advance in their jobs, transition to post-secondary, build stronger families, engage in the civic life of their community, and demand better services in their community, Universidad Popular provides low-income immigrant adults English as a Second Language classes to improve their English language acquisition and literacy skills.

As the economy, healthcare, urban violence, public transportation, immigration law, (un)employment, schooling and other issues evolved, UP has broadened its literacy programs to provide the skills needed by immigrants to succeed in American society.
