Program Description

Oakton's Adult Education Department helps adults develop the basic skills they need including reading, writing, math, English language proficiency, and problem-solving to be productive workers, family members, and citizens. Our programs include:
English as a Second Language and Citizenship
Literacy/Reading
High School Equivalency (GED)
Evening High School
Additionally, the Volunteers In Teaching Adults program, VITA, offers tutoring support for our adult learners participating in the free, non-credit English As A Second Language (ESL) program and the free, non-credit Learn To Read Literacy program.

In addition to the Skokie and Des Plaines campuses, our classes are offered at 20 locations in the Oakton area such as local high schools, libraries, and community centers.
